President, DATA

As we enter into a new year, I’d like to take a quick look back at the important events that took place in 2004. The passage of HB 292, which helps Athletic Trainers practice their trade based on their education versus their work site, was a major accomplishment for our organization. There are many people to thank for their time and input into this bill such as Mary Mundrane and Joan Couch. If you see them please express your thanks.

The Delaware Athletic Training Association provided excellent continuing education opportunities for our membership at our annual business meeting in December. We were able to offer quality CEU’s at an affordable price. Members in attendance were also kept up to date with athletic training in the state of Delaware. The success of this event was due in large part to the hard work and efforts of John Smith.

The membership accomplished significant goals in 2004 and will continue to do more to benefit our profession as a whole. Our profession needs you to get involved and promote Athletic Training as well. Voice your opinions and continue to promote Athletic Training in all you do. Be involved in the state, district and national levels, and continue to present yourselves as positive members of your community. Let everyone know who you are and what you do. Educating people about our field will only benefit the profession in the future.

If you need more information on how to get involved in state and regional athletic training organizations please contact one of the board members. Hope to see you at one of our meetings!

Have a healthy and safe year.

Michael Higgins
