ABOUT THE DELAWARE ATHLETIC TRAINERS' ASSOCIATION |
The DATA was organized in 1982 to assist certified athletic trainers in Delaware. We have successfully passed the first state licensure bill, in the country, which recognized the certified athletic trainer, in the clinical setting. The DATA is committed to increase job opportunities for certified athletic trainers. This will be done in a number of ways. Working with school boards and the state department of health to increase jobs at the high school level. Exploring third party reimbursement to assist in the clinical setting. Working with various industries to show the advantages of the ATC when working with the physically active.
The DATA and athletic training are represented on the Delaware Secondary School Athletic Association Sports Medicine Advisory Committee. The DATA also has an advisory role with the Governors Council on School Health and provides speakers for various school groups and others with an interest in the health care of the physically active.
The DATA assists in the education of future athletic trainers. This is done through the research taken on by its members. The DATA also awards an annual scholarship to an undergraduate student from Delaware or studying, in Delaware in the field of athletic training.
