Heather Heidel received her undergraduate degree in athletic training from the University of Delaware. Before joining the staff at Sussex Tech, Heather worked as an athletic trainer at another area high school and at Tidewater Physical Therapy in Milton, DE.

Melanee Johnson currently serves as an Athletic Trainer for the University of Delaware. Before coming to Delaware, Melanee was an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Rutgers University from 2008-2016. At Rutgers, Mel assisted the volleyball team in the fall from 2008-2014, followed by the women’s soccer team from 2014-2016, going to the final four during the 2015 season. Mel also assisted the softball team during the spring from 2008-2016.
Melanee earned her Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences from Howard University in 2003 and earned her Master’s degree in Athletic Training from Shenandoah University in 2008. |

Megan Smith currently serves as an Athletic Trainer for the University of Delaware. Before coming to Delaware, Megan was an Assistant Athletic Trainer Illinois State University. She served on the PR Committee in the Illinois Athletic Training Association and is the Chair of the Women in Athletic Training organization.

Currently serves as the Director of Athletic Training for Premier Physical Therapy and Sports Performance & is a Certified Athletic Trainer at Cape Henlopen HS. Ashley received her BS Degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Psychology from Salisbury University in 2013 and obtained her MS in Athletic Training in 2017 from Shenandoah University. Ashley worked in Fairfax County, VA at McLean HS serving as the Associate Athletic Trainer before moving to Washington State to serve as the Head AT at a Seattle High School. From 2020-2022, Ashley was an Assistant AT at Shenandoah University before moving to Delaware. Outside of Athletic Training, Ashley enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and exploring the outdoors with her deaf rescue dog, Sherman.
