Candidates for the Hall of Fame have been certified members of the NATA, in good standing, for a minimum of 30 years. The Hall of Fame award recognizes the very best in our profession. This award for lifetime achievement honors dedicated members that have contributed to athletic training by their leadership, service, scholarship, promotion of the profession and professionalism at the local, state, district and national levels. A Hall of Fame candidate exemplifies the mission statement of the NATA and the NATA Code of Ethics by their conduct and advancement of the profession.

The Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award is a prestigious honor that recognizes NATA members for their exceptional and unique contributions to the athletic training profession. It reflects a lifetime of dedication to the association and the field of athletic training on the national, district and local levels. Candidates are not expected to have experience in all areas, however this is a national award and contributions at the national level are necessary. These contributions can include, but are not limited to: leadership and advancement of the association and the profession nationally.

The Eastern Athletic Trainers’ Association (EATA) ’49 Club recognizes those EATA members whose District 1 and/or District 2, EATA, and state contributions demonstrate sustained leadership and reflect positively on the EATA and their home districts. The work of these individuals shapes and advances the profession of Athletic Training as a result of their exceptional accomplishments and dedication to sustained service and leadership. The ’49 Club is considered the highest honor an EATA member can achieve and is equivalent to Hall of Fame recognition.

The EATA Excellence in Leadership Award was developed in 1966 to recognize those members of the Eastern Athletic Trainers’ Association (EATA) who have provided leadership that enhances the profession of Athletic Training at the national, District 1 and/or District 2, and/or states included in District 1 and/or District 2 levels in a manner consistent with the leadership provided by Chuck and Frank Cramer. Chuck and Frank Cramer, who served on the first-ever Olympic athletic training staff, were two of the Founding Fathers of the EATA and the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA). They launched a company that created the first athletic training products that helped to fund the NATA and EATA in their early years. Their efforts nurtured these organizations through their infancy and helped to shape the profession. The brothers produced the first educational materials and provided training opportunities for young individuals interested in careers in athletic training.

The award is presented each year at the annual Eastern Athletic Trainers' Association conference. In selecting the athletic trainer, it should be remembered that he/she should be a person who has made an outstanding contribution to the profession on the secondary or prep school level.
